| HISTORY The MACK BIG BAND, started its life as a rehearsal band run by the Great British Band Leader, Ken Mackintosh.The first rehearsal took place in Ken's front room at Streatham Common South Side. The 3 players were Dave Hull, bass ( still with us) Seth Pittam, alto and Ken himself. As the band grew his front room became too small, so the band de-camped to a Church Hall also off the common, and stayed there for 10 years. During this time Ken knocked the band into a very good semi pro outfit. We now rehearse every Tuesday in The Colour Theatre at Abbey Mills, as a collective, but still using the strict discipline to get it right, that Ken made a cornerstone of the band. Anyone is welcome to come and listen to us rehearse, there is a bar, so you won't go thirsty. |
