HISTORY
The MACK BIG BAND, started its life as the a rehearsal band run by the Great British Band Leader, Ken Mackintosh.The first rehearsal took place in Kens front room at Streatham Common South Side. The 3 players were Dave Hull, bass ( still with us) Seth Pittam, alto and Ken himself.
As the band grew his front room became too small, so the band de-camped to a Church Hall also off the common, and stayed there for 10 years. During this time Ken knocked the band into a very good semi pro outfit. We now rehearse every Tuesday in The Colour Theatre at Abbey Mills, as a collective, but still using the strict discipline that Ken used. Including threats to be sent to India circa 1943, wordy bollockings, sarcasm and lots of laughs.
